About this project.
Central City Park became the permanent home of the Georgia State Fair in 1871. The Round Building housed many of the fair’s exhibits. Destroyed by fire in 1904, the building was rebuilt that same year.
The bandstand served as a gathering place for music and public speeches. In October 1871, former Confederate President Jefferson Davis addressed former Confederate troops from the bandstand. President William Howard Taft spoke there in 1909.
