Luther Williams Field is part of Macon’s identity. Renovating a place with that kind of history calls for a thoughtful balance: improving the experience for players and visitors while keeping the ballpark recognizable to the community it serves.
Warren Associates helped prepare this Central City Park landmark for a new chapter. Our January 2018 project announcement identified Warren as the general contractor for SPLOST-funded upgrades ahead of the Macon Bacon’s inaugural season.

A broader vision for the ballpark
Macon-Bibb County’s August 2017 announcement outlined three phases of planned improvements. Together, they addressed the existing stadium, the playing environment and new spaces for gathering on game day.
The original plans called for:
- Repairs and refreshed finishes throughout the seating bowl.
- Expanded concessions, food preparation areas and a team store.
- Updates to restrooms, locker rooms and coaches’ offices.
- Playing-field and dugout work, including drainage improvements.
- New hospitality areas, group seating and amenities along both sides of the field.
These plans show how the project looked beyond the grandstand. A ballpark experience also depends on where people enter, gather, buy refreshments and spend time together between innings.
Construction that connects generations
Renovation brings a different set of questions than new construction. What should remain? What needs repair? Where can new features make an existing place more useful? At a historic recreational facility, those decisions shape both its function and its character.
For Warren Associates, Luther Williams Field connects two areas of our project portfolio: historical construction and recreational facilities. It is a local example of how investment in an established community asset can support its next chapter.

Recognized in 2019
